BaZi/SaJu/Fortune Telling- what is it all?

It's all one of the same thing in essence, SaJu is the Korean name to mean 4 pillars of destiny (Sa= 4 & Ju= Pillars) and BaZi denotes something similar (Ba= 8 & Zi=Characters in Chinese which make up the 4 pillars). Fortune telling happens to be one of the outcomes as a result of being able to read a BaZi chart accurately.

From here on down, I want to preface this by saying that there are plenty of various written explanations of what BaZi is online that I do not wish to repeat in different words. I will be typing out my own thoughts and descriptions of this all, so here is my personal take on things!

To put simply: BaZi is an ancient Chinese birth chart reading system involving your birth chart’s 8 character make up (representing your base character make up as a human being), and the timeline and flow of certain universal energies that interact with your base make up over time. Because the timing moves in a certain direction through a consistent and predictable 60-year cycle, and the flow of your chart is laid out from the time you are born, it allows a practitioner to predict what is going to happen to you based off the interaction of the universal energies colliding with your 8 character base makeup at any given time. This interaction of universal energies and our base chart is what influences our thoughts, emotions, actions, and therefore behavior, and also that of those around us. Because of the countless combinations possible of 8 character configurations, and because we each have our own starting point on the 60-year timeline, the interaction of energies possible for people at any given time are numerous, and we can clearly see that reflected in the many different types of people and reactions people have when exposed to similar stimulus at the same time in the world.

Though each 60 year cycle is the same in its ordering of years, it is also slightly different as time goes by. This is because the world and universe is also going through a different cycle of its own, creating different energetic results and outcomes for different generations- hence the cyclic but slightly different differences in people’s thoughts and behaviors over time. It’s why in my opinion many who study history come to realize the saying, “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes”,

To be more specific (I encourage you to read this even if it is long):

Imagine the 4 pillars/8 characters as like your body/bone structure/internal organs and working/make up. You are born with a certain set of preset characteristics and functions that will interact with the next 50 or so % of the equation which is the time flow or 'luck periods’ you enter as somewhat depicted on the spinning wheel above. If you put yourself in different situations/circumstances in life, you will react differently to the same stimulus.  If you are put under stress, you will inevitably feel differently or feel pushed to act in a different way than when you are relaxed and happy, leading you to a different outcome. For example, think about yourself going through the 4 seasons of a year. I think in each season you are bound to feel a slight difference in yourself just by nature of the weather affecting your mood or thoughts on what to do or how you would do it. Now imagine this actually happening all year round, irrespective of the season. That behind the scenes, there is a universal weather storm, sending you energy every second of everyday that you are largely unaware of. We are constantly, from the moment we are alive, b0mbarded by these universal energies, which modern day quantum physics is catching up on with the study of neutrinos (click the link), and there is a set timeline of these energies playing out on us at all times. Everyone begins at a different stage of the timeline, same sex twins have it a bit different but I won’t go into this right now. These universal energies and our individual different timelines collide with the numerous different possible set characteristic/bone structure combinations possible, and therefore cause many countless permutations and possibilities of personalities, actions/reactions, and therefore lived life experiences here on earth.

When we are unaware of this, we are practically puppets to these energies, playing out and living life exactly as they are affecting us and pushing us into the actions we create. When we follow the universal energies and are aligned with them with trust, we call that following our intuition. By following our intuition, we are naturally aligning with our internal guidance system leading us to the predestined route our charts depict for our lives. It is also the case however that having complete disconnection from your intuition can also still lead you to the predetermined place, but you are likely going to have what feels like a rougher time going through the motions of things than some friend of yours who is always ‘connected to their intuition and following the flow of the universe’. Why is this the case? Because it’s incredibly hard to fight the universal energies as mere humans and the energies push us to feel certain things to make us act in distinct ways that produce predictable outcomes. It affects us all. We are all at the mercy of our make up and timelines, and even more so when we are not even aware of any of this or how to take advantage of it for the coming future. But if you could know what was going to happen, how you were going to feel, when you would have to be careful not to not act reckless or speak hastily for example, that would be game changing, no? Even if we are bound to experience conflict with others on a certain day, with this prescience in mind, we can restrain ourselves to tone it down or manage our speech knowing what we have to do for ourselves instead of focusing on the other and how they are making us feel. This would produce a slightly different result compared to not knowing anything at all. Though you might still get angry and bicker with someone because of that inevitability of that day’s energy denoting potential conflict, the end result was that you went to your room early and took time to unwind and meditated yourself out of anger because you knew that was a day or month you would experience conflict. Imagine instead if you didn’t know anything that was going to happen and you just smashed a plate, or said something you could never take back to a loved one out of anger. The same predictable situation of conflict occurred, but a totally different outcome. One is way more at peace and at a higher level of compassion and understanding/forgiveness/self-management, whilst the other has you acting defensive and feeling like a victim or upset with the world and others. You would then also have to carry the guilt when the energy of the day or month passes and you are no longer under its energetic spell, to live with the regret of your actions/words. The same works in reverse with this knowledge, that by knowing fortunate timings and good days, we can take advantage of them to not gaslight ourselves out of good opportunities and moments, and get to truly ‘release your inhibitions and feel the rain on your skin…’.

This is the beauty of BaZi. It’s as in the photo depicted, a wheel within a wheel, within a wheel, within a wheel, within a….you get the point, denoting predetermined timelines of the universal energies that will affect us at different stages of life, that cause different predictable outcomes. And together with the 8 characters making up the 4 pillars, creates your BaZi chart which neatly comes together nowadays easily on an app.

My job is in reading the universal energies and predicting what your final outcome will be before it ever even occurs or you ever have even conceived of the idea to do something, as accurately as possible- well one part of it is this. And if it looks difficult…trust me, it’s a few levels more difficult than whatever you’re imagining... There are so many exceptions to the rule and each person’s chart is uniquely different to the next, requiring you to solve a puzzle, within a puzzle, within a puzzle, within a puzzle…etc while holding all the information in short term memory and trying to distill the ancient language in a way that someone who has no idea about this can understand or resonate with it colloquially for their day to day life. One mistake or slip up with one thing, and the whole prediction or reading is inaccurate. That’s why prices for this kind of work internationally are equivalent or greater to seeing a specialist doctor for example. There’s a lot of mental effort involved and there’s real value to predicting accurately.

Feel free to ask me anything else on my opinion for clarification or discuss your own ideas in a message or email, and if I have any extra time I will get back to you on them- but likely will answer back as an Instagram/YouTube post because that would be more effective.

How did this all come into creation?

Again, this is information you can easily find online that I don’t wish to regurgitate, mostly because I cannot with good faith back it. Because honestly in my own opinion, I’m quite skeptical of what is said about how it all came to be and how we came to understand this all. It simply seems too mind-boggling and immense for me to recognize that post-ice age humans figured this chart system out through millennia of trial and error and records upon records.

However that doesn't refute any of the truth of what it preaches and the results it produces. The accuracy cannot be denied, and that is why for me it’s not so important where this came from or how we came to understand it, but to view it as a blessing that we are able to have a tool like this to guide us through our time here on earth.

Are you a shaman/do you partake in witchcraft?

Absolutely not. Although I can see myself having fun dressing up in funky outfits, shaking broken tree branches and burning worn underwear for some crazy reason, I unfortunately am not a shaman or wizard, and simply have learned how to read the ancient chart system (after much mind bending effort) 1 v 1 under an experienced master as an apprentice.
